Sakonnet has acted as lead sponsor since 2003 of a national US road cycling team. This sponsorship supports developing riders between the ages of 19 and 25 who have the potential to compete at the highest amateur levels or turn professional. The team currently has 12 riders. Last year the team achieved excellent results, with several members representing the United States in the under-25 age division.

Every month during the racing season the team enters a US National Racing Calendar event, and goes abroad for an international stage race.
