Technical
Xenon is a next generation n-tier Java application with
a single source code base. This technical architecture is key to
providing clients with an extensible, agile and future-proof solution.
The Java platform enables Xenon to offer high
performance, load balancing software, and publish five times a year
thoroughly tested upgrades with substantive new functionality.
A rich Java client is downloaded to each
user’s workstation, and is connected (via a secure socket layer
(“SSL”) and load balancer) to the application servers. On
the third tier is ObjectStore, an object-oriented database that enables
rapid development in Java of complex data structures. Sakonnet's latest
release is based on a comprehensive rearchitecture around Oracle 10g.
The diagram below illustrates this new architecture.

Sakonnet has built XIP, or the Xenon Integration
Platform, an enterprise service bus (ESB) or middleware which enables
fast, inexpensive and sustainable integration of Xenon to brokers,
exchanges and market data providers. Xenon can also be linked via XIP
or directly to customers’ own applications.
Xenon is available as either a hosted or in-house
installation. Users of the hosted model access servers at a remote,
secure AT&T-run data center, and are connected via the Internet or
private line.
